Are Our Decisions Really Ours?
Are Our Decisions Really Our Own?
We like to believe our decisions are the result of clear thinking, honest reasoning, and conscious choice.
But is that really true?
Often, our choices are shaped long before reasoning even begins:
• Conditioning: Family, society, culture, and past experiences silently influence what we consider “right.”
• Need for Approval: How many decisions are driven by the desire to be accepted, admired, or validated by others?
• Fear of Loss: Fear of failure, rejection, uncertainty, or discomfort often dictates our actions more than clarity does.
• Confirmation Bias: We naturally seek information that supports what we already believe while overlooking contradictory evidence.
• Borrowed Expectations: When choosing a career, partner, lifestyle, or belief system, how much is truly our own understanding, and how much is inherited from others?
Let’s Explore Together
• What is actually driving the decisions we call “mine”?
• Why do we consistently favor information that confirms our existing beliefs?
• When choosing a job, a path, or a relationship, how much is genuine clarity and how much is hidden fear?
• Is a completely unbiased decision even possible, or is the real challenge becoming aware of our biases?
• What would it take to honestly recognize our own blind spots?
Join us for an open discussion as we examine the hidden influences behind our decisions and explore what it means to see ourselves and our choices more clearly.
We look forward to seeing you there!
